Welcome to the Rancho Bernardo Retreat. This is our 1967 Southern California ranch style home located in the exclusive neighborhood, "The Greens", in Rancho Bernardo, "A suburb of San Diego". The 5 star Rancho Bernardo Inn is literally out the back gate giving you access to restaurants, golf, spa, and more. You don't want to miss it and there's no need to drive. Centrally located between, The Beach, Lego Land, Sea World, The San Diego Zoo, San Diego Safari Park, La Jolla, and Downtown. All of these mentioned destinations are 10 to 30 minutes away. Disneyland is only an hour and ½ away. Upon advance request we can provide a guest membership to the Rancho Bernardo swim and tennis club with additional pools, hot tubs, tennis, and more. Given the Corona virus we wanted to inform you that our house cleaner cleans the day you arrive for 4-6 hours. All surfaces are sanitized including light switches, door handles and touch panels in all the rooms. She is amazing. As you can see from previous reviews the house will be spotless. Optional pool heating charges explained: If using the gas heater to heat the pool or hot tub we look at therm usage online after your stay and charge accordingly. To heat the hot tub for a couple of hours it's about $10. An average cost to heat the pool to 82 in the winter is about $30-50 a day. We also have pool solar so it's not necessary to use the gas heater to heat the pool April-Oct. The solar array, "weather permitting", will keep the pool in the 80 and 90's if you desire. No charge for using the solar array. Sun is still free in California ;) Pets and pet fees explained: Dogs 15 lb and under that are well behaved and potty trained are welcome. Please ask first and we have a $20 per day per fee. As for payment I just sum up these charges at the end of your stay and send you a payment request through the same method you booked with. For clarification from past guests: We do not live here. We are empty nesters with another house and vacation rent this place most of the time now. We raised the kids here and moved to another house when the youngest went off to college. There are no personal kids items left in the house. The bedrooms are empty except for decorative items or items left for your use like board games, guitars, x-box games and books. There are plenty of hangers in the closets for your use. There is no clothing of any kind in the house. The Master closet is kept locked. That's where we hide all the money ;) The adjacent Office provides plenty of storage space for the Master Bedroom and a dresser is available for clothing. The desk drawers in the Office are full, but the desk and monitors with USB adaptors are for your use. Otherwise, the desk-top should be empty. The refrigerator is empty except for one door shelf and one freezer shelf. There are 2 empty shelves in the pantry. The Guest Bath does not contain personal items. The Master Bath has only one shelf of personal items. There is a give and take bin of soaps and shampoos. The mud/laundry room has laundry room items, personal sporting items, but is quite spacious. Pool towels in laundry room are for your use. The washer & dryer are available for your use. Throughout the house there are decorative knick-knacks that you may move from surfaces if you need the space. Please just return them where you found them. I'm a minimalist. If you think it's too much, tell me please. ;) Our surveillance cameras point only at the front entryway, driveway, front yard, and back gate. As our house doc states you can request we move the back gate camera. There are no other cameras on the property. There are no cameras inside the property. We live on a golf course. We are 90 yards from the front of the green and 3/4 down the left side of the fairway. The backyard gets about 4 golf balls a week, on average. I've put in nets to protect the sitting areas. In the 16 years we have had the home, our family, kids, and friends have never come in contact with a golf ball, but they are present. Please note, we are extremely CLEAN and TIDY people. This does not mean everything is new and shiny, but it will be clean. This is an original 1967 Ranch style home that we've remodeled keeping to the original theme. Sorry, the wall to wall shag carpet has been removed and the entire house has wood floors now. The Kitchen remodel is next. Guests describe the kitchen as shabby chic. Everything works and everything you need is there. (Pots & pans, dishes, Microwave, Coffee Maker, Water Boiler, Blender, Toaster Oven, Double Oven and Fridge.) Some knobs are missing on drawers/cabinets and some of the drawers stick. 1 of the 5 stovetop burners does not work. If you want to find something that needs attention, you will find it. A home is a spectrum of projects and some take priority over others. The house is as described and as shown in photos. We take pride in this place and are always making improvements. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Respectfully speaking... We cannot tolerate guests that wake the neighbors at 11:30PM or treat the house poorly and leave a mess. If you are coming to San Diego to party this house is not a good choice for your group. Having said this, we've had hundreds of happy renters. 99% of you are fantastic. Please do both of us a favor and if you are that 1% find a more suitable place. Thanks!
