My place is walking distance to restaurants and fashion shops, the University of Winnipeg, RBC Convention Centre, and downtown, and has great transit options including direct routes to Health Sciences Centre, MTS Centre, Via Rail and the airport. You’ll love my place because of the eclectic neighbourhood, comfy bed, artwork, and the hosts! This heritage apartment was constructed in 1929. The bedroom is newly painted and furnished with b-side style and local art. The room faces north and has blackout shades for a good night's sleep on a queen sleigh bed. Look out any window to see eclectic murals and midtown scenes playing out on lively West Broadway. You will appreciate the original hardwood floors, glass door handles and wood moulding around the apartment. I provide free Shaw Go Wifi for visitors with thousands of Wifi points in the city. You may save on international data rates. Instructions on how to get free city-wide Wifi are in the house guide. This listing boasts an incredible Walkscore of 93. Close to home, feel safe knowing there is plainclothes security patrolling the building from time to time. The suite is outfitted with air ionizers which help to purify the air of dust, allergens, odours and bacteria. A robotic vacuum helps me to keep it squeaky clean. Check-in time is 4 PM, but be in touch about your travel plans. I'll try to get you in earlier. You will have access to the living/dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. The front entrance has an electric code for check-in and you will use a provided key for the remainder of your stay. Fresh items like milk and fruit are available for purchase across the street. West Broadway is an eclectic, vibrant, sometimes gritty, multi-income area. We have hipsters and bedraggled homeless, students and seniors and are a multi-ethnic neighbourhood. We're proud of our old architecture, mature trees, a new skate park and community gardens. The commerce found here includes amazing restaurants, bakeries and chocolatiers, fashion, and really good coffee. Like many downtown neighbourhoods in Canada, we have our share of traffic noise, homeless, and the need for extra awareness when walking at night. Neither I nor my guests have ever had a single problem. If our schedules allow, I am able to pick you up from the airport for a flat rate of $15 (compared to a taxi, $20). I have plenty of bus access from the front door. Transit connects you with the airport and the Via Rail station without transfers. Ridesharing apps are available. On foot, you can be downtown Winnipeg in 8 minutes. The University of Winnipeg and The Manitoba Legislature are both 6 minutes by foot. Parking is time limited M-F 9-5 and free. If you move your car during the day you won't have an issue. Further away from this central location, a less than 20-minute drive will bring you to Ikea, Seasons of Tuxedo Outlet Mall, the University of Manitoba, casinos, medical specialists; in fact, most parts of the city! This building is old. Part of the charm that comes with a character building is the creaks of the floor or traffic/pedestrian sounds through thin windows, gurgling steam radiators, and wear from age. We are located in a safe, multi-ethnic and multi-income neighbourhood. Winnipeg has a high visible homeless population and the building is patrolled by security rotation. While I and my many stellar reviews would like to convince you it's perfectly safe, central and a great value, you should book elsewhere if the presence of homeless, or an old-timy apartment building, will cause you to feel unsafe or uncomfortable. Please contact me if you are a light sleeper or if you have allergies, as a tiny fraction of guests found it to be an issue or required special food precautions. I have indicated that my suite is safe for children, but please note that I do not have any children's accoutrement and you will need to bring that yourself. Additionally, during the cold months, my home is heated by steam radiators that can burn skin if the rad is carelessly touched. It is up to you to determine if this is a safe space for your children.$
