Guests love the property's quiet location. <br> DIRECTIONS ARE AT THE END OF THIS DESCRIPTION<br><br>UNIT B2<br><br>If this is your first trip to Akumal, you are in store for a marvelous adventure. “Akumal” means “place of the turtles” in the Mayan language. In season, you can watch the turtles lay their eggs and then march to the sea. You will never forget the experience. <br><br>Our condominium is particularly lovely because we have very high ceilings and a large, open floor plan. The living and dining area adjoin, but do not seem like the same space. I have decorated with antiques and art from the region, so you will fell more at home than in some other rentals. We kept it to ourselves for ten years and only started renting in 2008.<br><br>We have two spacious bedrooms with king size beds. Both rooms are light and airy. The Master's bath in the room area, while the Guest Room's full bath is just outside the door. <br><br>Fabulous ruins, snorkeling, deep sea diving, turtle watching, shopping, relaxing and lots of fun await you here. I look forward to hearing from you. Call or email with any questions.<br><br><br>Akumal: We are only a ten minute walk from the 'center' of Akumal. There are two small grocery stores, an Internet room that is very reasonable, a few shops and a laundry. There are also three very good restaurants here in the center. You can access Akumal beach from here. It's only about one hundred yards from the center. The snorkeling off this beach is really good. Akumal is always casual.<br><br><br>Things to Do: Shopping is very good in Tulum, which is only 15 minutes south, and in Playa del Carmen which is only 22 minutes north. Sightseeing is endless. You can take day trips to Tulum or Coba, or you can stay overnight at Chitze Itza or Merida. We recommend them all. There is an endless list of possible activities for you to enjoy in and around Akumal and all through the Mayan Riviera. There are PGA golf courses and world class diving spots. The fresh water cenotes are just beautiful and very refreshing. I have snorkeled many with our children. I prefer to have a guide direct us when we go the cenotes. <br><br>My Favorite Thing to Do: I love to walk the beach from in front of our apartment and then to the right. It is not completely sandy. It is covered with thousands of pieces of washed-up coral and small shells. I collect the most striking pieces of coral that I find. I have so many now, I can be very choosy. I will sit for hours there and just commune with the sea and nature. I am usually totally alone and for me, there is no other place where I feel so at one with the world.<br><br><br>DIRECTIONS<br><br>DIRECTIONS<br>There is no actual address for our building. If you find one on VRBO, it is incorrect. Only a lot number is associated with our building and that does not work on GPS. <br>When you come to the AKUMAL sign coming from Cancun, You will want to go to AKUMAL BEACH. Akumal Beach is on the left side of the highway as you are traveling south. The small town of Akumal is on the right side of the highway so you will need to turn in and cross over the bridge into Akumal Beach. <br>Enter Akumal Beach. Drive through the arch and veer left. Continue through the security gate. You will come to a dog leg curve to the left just continue on. In about 100 yards or so you will come to Mi Casa Del Mar on your right. Drive under the porte-corche I have a photo of our building on my property page. A gentleman should come to help with your bags. If not immediately, just ring the bell or buzzer to call him. A gratuity would be appreciated.<br><br>Water is provided. Just let the building manager know if you need a new bottle. <br><br>Now a Covid test is required to leave the country. My manager, Roger, can help you arrange for the test. There will be a charge. <br><br><br><br>I will send you the lockbox code in an email. When you leave, please replace the key in the box. We also have a screen door! When you open the front door and the doors to the veranda you will get a wonderful breeze. Half Moon Bay, which is a perfect and relaxing place for the turtles to come in and lay their eggs in one of the many protected areas in HMB, is where our condo is located. <br><br>A new advanced cleaning protocol has been implemented which includes, hot steam ironing of all mattresses and sofas between check ins, all pillows washed, no back to back check ins, all surfaces and handles cleaned with chlorine and/ or Lysol, plenty of hand sanitizing gel available to all guests, spray bottles with desinfectant and cleaning products available to all guests, and much more! Ask for info and get the protocol sent to you before booking.<br><br>One of the major attractions in Akumal is that it is located right at the second largest reef in the world and in its surroundings you can find more than 200 different entries to sinkholes (cenotes) and underground rivers. No matter what road you drive on or what turn you take, there is always a cenote close by to visit. <br><br>Our condo (number 6/7) is part of a condominium called La Sirena. This condo consists of two units made one! So its extra spacious, allowing maximum light and the best views of the surrounding beach, sea, pool and garden! You have it all! <br><br>The condo itself has three large bedrooms with a private bathroom each. An additional WC is right by the dining room and TV area. In addition, a bar is strategically placed by the large living room with the most spectacular view to the ocean and easy access to the balcony. Therefore, no matter whether you want to enjoy the view under the sun, heat and breeze on the balcony or from the comfort of your air conditioned bar inside, the ocean is right with you! You just take care of the drinks though :)<br><br>As a matter of fact, no matter where you are in the spacious kitchen, living room or dining room, the view is yours! Check out the pictures and see for yourself and then get a flight down here and just ENJOY! <br><br>In the evening, maybe during down time with kids, you can enjoy a movie on a brand new flat screen TV or play board games at the large dining table for 8 people. <br><br>If you are ready to explore something outside La Sirena and the condo, maybe it is time to go to Lagoon YalKu, which is a walk of literally 5 minutes. There you can snorkel some more and enjoy endless sea life. <br><br>In the evenings, a stroll in the street or along the beach leads you to quite a few local restaurants with great food! Scuba diving and snorkeling offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with ecotours and cycling nearby. <br> This gorgeous 1100 sq. ft ground floor condo is located in the beautiful gated low-rise Tao complex which is set in its own lush grounds across from the Gran Bahia Principe Resort and Spa. Unlike most of the elegant Tao condos, robust but chic furnishing is perfect for children and a stress-free stay for parents, while the beach is only 1/2 mile away.<br><br>The condo is situated just 20 yards from the complex's large community pool, along with its paddling pool, pool-side barbecue and numerous loungers. The renowned Tao Wellness Center is just a four-minute walk from the condo and offers a gym, two lap pools, massage therapies, spa treatments, and classes, including yoga, Pilates, Zumba, Salsa Dance, cooking, and Spanish, depending on the schedule. There is also a small business center, a small library, and gift shop. The Wellness Center has been closed due to Covid but has reopened. However, further surges may result in closure again.<br>If you would like to cater for yourself there is everything you need in the condo's up market kitchen, with its granite worktops and stainless steel appliances. It includes a cooker with stove top, blender, saucepans, utensils, crockery, cutlery, wine glasses, table linens, etc., plus a dishwasher - and a toaster and coffee maker for breakfast. The condo's shady, secluded position encourages al fresco dining on the tiled terrace, but otherwise you can eat inside at the 6 seat dining table.<br><br>Accommodation in the two bedrooms is very flexible. The four single beds comfortably join together to make two super-king size beds, so it can suit a group of four singles travelling together, parents with children, or two couples. The sofas in the living room also convert to a bed for extra guests, or third and fourth children can sleep on air beds. All necessary bed linens and towels are provided, as well as a washing machine & dryer in its own alcove.<br><br>Air conditioning and fans in every room, its own internet and free wi-fi, insect screens on all windows, plus blackout drapes in the bedrooms will round off your comfort, and for your entertainment there’s a TV with DVD player that enables you to play a huge range of DVDs.<br><br>Tao is a very safe, secure and tranquil place to relax and spend time, plus the condo itself has monitors for carbon monoxide, propane gas detection and smoke alarms. You can reach it in an easy 70 minute drive down the coastal highway from Cancun Airport. It’s only 15 minutes from the ancient Mayan ruins of Tulum and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world along the Riviera Maya. If the fabulous Tulum Beach Road doesn't provide enough buzz for you, Playa del Carmen and its 5th Avenue is only 25 minutes drive away. You can also take a ferry from there to Cozumel, or take in a current English-speaking movie or two. Alternatively, visit the nearby Xplor, X-hel and Xcaret parks. The Si'an Kaan Biosphere is another lovely place to visit. What with all the cenotes in the surrounding areas too, there are plenty of tourist sites and activities to fill your days. <br>However, the special bonus of staying at Tao is that you can dip into all the options offered at the adjacent Gran Bahia Principe Resort at a discounted cost, but without having to pay the resort's high room rates! These offerings too are more limited at present due to COVID. When fully operational, It offers scuba, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, fishing, bikes, spas, horse riding, shopping, a brand-new casino, children's club, and many restaurants, bars and nightly entertainment shows. You may also dine at any of the resort hotels’ buffets or specialty restaurants for a discounted price. Pick up the free trolley at the Wellness Center and take the 1/2 mile ride across the private bridge to the exclusive resort areas, including the private beach for Tao guests. In addition, take advantage of the discounted fees for a round of golf on the superb Robert Jones II 27-hole course (rated #3 in all Mexico), which extends all around the Tao complex. You can try the 18-hole Championship Par 72 course, or the Executive 9-hole Par 3 course - or both! <br><br>Please note that at present, many other local facilities and amenities are operating at a reduced level.<br><br>While COVID persists, our property management team will have cleaned after previous renters using all the expanded practices in this era, but will not greet you at the beginning of your stay for social-distancing reasons. You will find self-checkin very easy, and concierge service will be available via email. <br><br>Although you could manage to get around using the intermittent Tao shuttle, taxi cabs, and the frequent local bus service, a hire car is definitely recommended to get full benefit from all that the area has to offer.<br><br>Long rentals, up to six months in the first instance, are available at reduced rates.<br><br>Finally, please note that TAO is not a ‘party’ site, and site rules stipulate reasonable quiet after 10pm.")
