Although we are not wheelchair accessible, there are only 2 small steps up to the front door of our one-story home.
Because of the mild climate (average temps (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) degrees) in our area, most homes do not have central air conditioning; however, a portable air conditioner is available for use during excessively hot weather. There is a ceiling fan and heater in the suite.
There is a TV in the great room. To encourage connection and adventure, rooms do not have televisions.
Iron & ironing board are in the laundry room. Washer & dryer available, if needed.

We live on a private road in a wooded area near Carney Lake on Gig Harbor's Key Peninsula. Although not quite visible from our lot, there are four other families on our street, most with pets and kids of all ages.
You will need a car to get around. We are 49 miles from Sea-Tac airport. Park in the RV port, to the right of the garage. The ferry terminal to Seattle, Gig Harbor downtown historic waterfront (Wollochet exit) and uptown (Olympic exit) shopping & dining areas are 16 miles away.
We are located in a rural area. There are several shopping areas nearby (within 5-10 miles), including Port Orchard, Wauna, Key Center & Gig Harbor. Groceries may be stored in the mini-refrigerator in the room.

Please treat our home respectfully like your home:
•Hang damp towels on towel bar or shower curtain rod to dry or place in hamper.
•Remove shoes upon entry. You may wear socks or slippers indoors. No bare feet, please.

The cabin offers an open concept. It sleeps 6 very comfortably, but does not lend a lot of privacy.
It has a nice convection oven/microwave, which accommodates a smaller pizza, but you can easily cook burgers, seafood, pizzas, etc. on the BBQ grill on the waterfront lower deck.

Tastefully furnished home with a comfortable, beachy vibe. The interior of the home is freshly painted and furnished with multiple seating areas from which to enjoy to view.
A well stocked kitchen is open to the living room. The living room has a sleeper sofa and TV with cable, DVD player and streaming for Netflix, etc. We also provide a small selection of movies, cards and board games.
Large sunroom is on the water side. The sunroom has a dining table and multiple seating areas including a couch large enough to sleep on. There is an electric fireplace to keep it cozy in winter and window a/c units to keep it cool in summer. The sunroom has sliding glass doors that separate it from the rest of the home, or you may leave them open.
Deck off the sunroom has a bistro set for enjoying your morning coffee and two loungers to catch some sun. Also a charcoal BBQ grill with cooking tools. (Please bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid.)
Master bedroom with King sized bed is adjacent to the full bathroom with jetted tub, and the door to the deck. Master has a view of the water, as well as a large closet and dresser for your belongings.
Second bedroom with twin-full bunk bed is just down the hall. This bedroom has insulated curtains instead of doors. There are toys and books for kids as well as a small desk space, dresser and closet.
A/C window units keep the house cool in the summer. There are multiple electric fans in the home as well as a ceiling fan in the living room.
In the winter the home is heated with a furnace as well as an electric fireplace in the sunroom and wood burning stove in the living room. (Please bring your own firewood.)
Guests have access to the entire home and the yard and beach immediately in front of the home.
The yard is currently under renovation while we plan for a large patio to be installed.
The bungalow by the water will soon be under renovation and is off limits. (No construction will take place during guest stays.)
Please ONLY use the beach directly in front of the home for gatherings and stay off neighboring property beaches. You may walk down the beach but not loiter or collect anything from neighboring beaches.
We want you to enjoy our home as if it were your own! We do not normally get to meet our guests, but we are always available via phone, text or messaging to answer any questions.
For urgent matters we can be available in person when needed.
From time to time we may be staying in our camper on the upper tier of the property which is totally separate from guest areas. We enjoy our privacy and like to give our guests their space to enjoy the home privately as well.
Stretch Island is a 300 acre island with a drive on bridge. Less than 10 minutes from the town of Allyn with its waterfront, restaurants and shops.

There is not much within walking distance on the island (other than the beach!) so a car will be necessary.
Owner may occasionally need to visit the top tier of the property to access the storage sheds or to move the boat or travel trailer. It is rare and should not impact guests in any way.
We recommend packing water shoes for going in the ocean as we have a typical rocky Washington beach.

![Lake Retreat]( "Serene lake retreat for your enjoyment. It is close to many beautiful parks that offer: beach hikes, bike trails, and other activities. The retreat is close to grocery shopping and restaurants. However it is far enough away from the fray to be peaceful.
This home is an open concept A-frame. The design helps one feel like they are able to get away. There are multiple places to find solitude and curl up with a great read. There is a dock, two decks, and a garden terrace created for your enjoyment. The walk around the lake is an easy mile and is safe. I recommend you walk on the left to face traffic as there are no sidewalks.

Welcome to the Lake Retreat at Lake Minterwood. This is a quiet private community which was developed in the early 1970s. The lake is man made and has no motor craft.
A lot of the homes in this community started out as summer vacation cabins and later have turned into year round residences. The lake retreat is one of the original homes on the lake. The community has been described as friendly but not overly so.
Lake:
At the boat house there are multiple choices of water craft to use: row boat, kayak, stand up board, and canoe. Please use the life jackets available as there are no life guards and these activities are at your own risk. Swimming is great from late May through September. You may choose to swim from the beach or walk down to the community park. The lake is too shallow to dive from the dock at the retreat. Fishing is also available with a license. The lake is stocked with trout and there is an annual fishing derby for kids in early June.
Walking:
The road around the lake is a comfortable 1 mile walk. Please be mindful of cars and stay to the left to face traffic. The vehicle road ends at the community park which is limited to foot traffic.
The Key Peninsula offers multiple community and state parks that are in easy driving distance. Penrose and Joemma are Washington State Parks and offer beachcombing, clamming, and great views of the Puget Sound. Maple Hollow Park is 5 miles to the south and offers great views of Mount Rainier. You most likely passed Gateway and 360 Trails park on your drive to the retreat. The park is situated on 430 acres with 9 miles of trails. For the state parks you will need a pass for day use which may be purchased at the parks or a Washington State Discover Pass which may be purchased on line via (Website hidden by Airbnb) The annual pass is $35.00 and day passes are $11.50. The state does offer free days: June 2-National Trails Day, June 9-National Get Outdoors Day, June 10-Fishing Day, August 25-National Park Service 102nd Birthday, September 22-National Public Lands Day, November 11-Veterans Day, and November 23 rd- Autumn Day.
Shopping:
Groceries: Key Center’s Food Market is located 1.9 miles from the lake retreat. You will find most any grocery item you may need. It is open from 7 am to 9 pm, 7 days a week. They have a Red Box DVD Rental as well as an ATM.
Safeway, Kroger Fred Meyer, and Harvest Greens are located in GigHarbor about 14.5 miles away. Costco, Target, and Albertsons are 10.4 mile drive.
Restaurants:
Key Center offers a tavern style eatery, Reed’s Good Food and Spirits, Subway, a Mexican restaurant, El Sombrero, and Figaro’s Pizza which also has delivery. The Blend is a popular wine shop and offers tastings every Friday.
Massimo is a restaurant located in Purdy, WA which is a 8.2 mile drive from the lake retreat. They offer Italian far. I have enjoyed both their food and service in the last few (Website hidden by Airbnb) Shed is in Gig Harbor on Harborview Drive. It is a great place for breakfast or brunch. It is open from 8 am to 3 pm Thursday through Monday. This is a popular after church venue. I recommend that you go early so you won’t have to wait. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
There are others as well. Explore and enjoy.
