You’ll love my home because of the location, charming decor, and cozy atmosphere. I have photos from my travels everywhere, and time zone clocks and a world map in my living room!
The guest bedroom features a comfy queen size bed, 2 nightstands, a dresser, and a closet. There is also a luggage rack for easier packing and unpacking.
The following upgrades have been made to my property from 2017-2019:
-New 20 year roof (September 2019)
-Updated guest room bedding (June 2019) - updated photos are added to this listing
-Rearranged guest room furniture (June 2019) - updated photos are added to this listing
-Updated bathroom decorations (June 2019) - updated photos of the bathroom have also been added to the listing
-Alarm clock in the guest room with 2 USB charging ports (October 2018)
-Brand new Vizio TV & shelf in the living room (September 2018). New living room photos have been uploaded that show this change.
-480 thread count deluxe Brooklinen sheets and pillowcases on the bed
-Soap, shampoo, and conditioner provided for each guest (previously not provided)
-New windows on the property (installed March 2018)
-New central air fan/compressor (installed June 2018)
-New washer, dryer, and dishwasher (installed June 2018)
-Added additional lighting in the living room with a new floor lamp (February 2018)
-Added 3 prong outlets to the guest room, so that guests can charge devices more easily (September 2017)
My home combines a modern feel with some art-deco architecture touches such as arched doorways and built-in shelving. Those details are a nod to the fact that my home was built in 1940!
I have ample street parking available as well as off-street parking in my driveway. You'll be assigned one side of the driveway so that I don't get blocked into my garage. ***I do not have garage access for guests.***
My place is good for couples, solo adventurers and business travelers. Please note that the bathroom is shared but I am happy to defer to your schedule when it comes to showers because you are the guest!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND MY HOME FOR PEOPLE TRAVELING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. I am not childproofed at all, nor do I have any extra amenities like cribs, extra kid-size mattresses, pack-n-plays, etc.
My kitchen is fully stocked with silverware, plates, cups, and cookware basics. It also has a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and stove/oven. You are welcome to grocery shop and cook.
I do not provide full meals or groceries for guests, but I do provide a coffee maker, coffee, and tea. I am not a huge coffee drinker myself so items like cream, sugar, etc. are hit or miss in my house. ;)
You will have access to the living room, kitchen, dining area, bathroom, and your guest bedroom. You are also welcome to use the washer/dryer located in the basement.
***I DO NOT HAVE AN IRON/IRONING BOARD. Please plan accordingly.***
Feel welcome to come and go as you please, on your own schedule/timeline!
Check-in time is firm 4 PM and check-out is firm 12 PM (noon). I cannot allow early check-ins because I need adequate time to clean from previous guests. If you need to arrive earlier than 4 PM or stay later than 12 PM (noon) including room access you're welcome to book an extra night before or after!
***ABSOLUTELY NO LUGGAGE STORAGE AFTER 12 PM (noon) OR BEFORE 4 PM ON YOUR ARRIVAL OR DEPARTURE DATES. NO EXCEPTIONS UNLESS YOU BOOKED AN EXTRA NIGHT BEFORE/AFTER TO ACCOMMODATE THIS. IF YOU ARE INTERVIEWING AT FAIRVIEW HOSPITAL PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AS THESE INTERVIEWS TYPICALLY END AT 1 PM.***
Monday-Friday I work from 8 AM to 4 PM except during the summer months. I work from home in my office full time. Please note that my home office is located on the opposite side of the guest room, and I might have conference calls in the morning. I close the door and do my best to keep the volume down.
If you will be arriving or departing at a time I'm not home, or very late night when I am not awake, I have a lockbox for your use to make arriving and departing as simple as possible! I cannot adjust the 4 PM check-in time to earlier. I need adequate prep time for the room between the last check-out and your check-in. I also frequently have afternoon work phone calls that I can't disrupt to greet guests, so 4 PM or later remains firm as a check-in time. If you need to arrive earlier than 4 PM and need access to the room, I suggest adding an extra night onto your stay (i.e. - include Monday night in your booking, then let me know in a message that you will actually arrive Tuesday). This is the only way I can accommodate \"early\" arrivals. I also cannot accommodate late checkouts after 12 PM (noon) unless you book an extra night as well.
When I am not working, I am definitely available to answer questions or give local recommendations if needed. I do not and cannot entertain/socialize with guests for long periods of time during stays (after work I'm often drained, and on weekends I often just want to quietly relax and either watch TV, nap, etc. if I'm not out with friends). I am also not much of a morning person and I prefer to eat all meals alone at home as well. But, I am ALWAYS kind and accommodating!
My place is convenient to Kamm's Corners, West Park, Downtown Cleveland, the RTA Red Line (which is an easy walk from my home), Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (just a 5 minute drive or 2 stops on the Red Line), shopping and dining, and the Cleveland Metroparks.
I have several Irish pubs in close proximity (~1 mile or less) and I am also ~1 mile from Fairview Hospital.
I am very close to the RTA red line, as noted in above. This goes to the airport, downtown, and neighborhoods like Ohio City, University Circle, and Little Italy. You can transfer trains in Tower City to expand your reach to Shaker Square or the waterfront line!
The airport is extremely close - only about 5 minutes from me. Planes fly at a low altitude over my neighborhood so please note that there is noise from this. I find however that it does not disturb the ambience inside my home!
Major freeways: I-71, I-90, and I-480 are all within 5-10 minutes.
I have a rescue bichon frise named Bob Barker. Bichons are hypo allergenic and shed a minimal amount and those typically allergic to dogs don't have reactions to Bob. He is very mellow and rarely barks. He also has never chewed anything in the 3 years I have owned him so far. Most guests don't even realize he is here, unless they purposely seek him out to say hello! :)
I do not allow pets belonging to guests on the property anymore as of 4/23/2018.
